Why work with a health coach? What is the value?
Self help and health information is widely available at our fingertips now more than ever thanks to technology. But have you ever finished a self help book or ted talk - felt all fired up and inspired for change - yet still finding yourself stuck in patterns that do not serve you?
This is where coaching comes in. It fills the gap between consuming information + taking action towards sustainable change.
Our nervous system is designed to keep us safe, and does so by seeking out patterns and predictability - even if they do not serve us. When a behavior is repeated often, the brain forms strong neural pathways, essentially creating an "autopilot" mode where the action becomes automatic, triggered by cues in the environment, and releases dopamine which reinforces the habit. This makes it hard to resist even when consciously trying to change. This means our brains are essentially wired to repeat familiar behaviors, even if they are not beneficial.
Coaching can help build new neural pathways by repetitively helping you focus your attention on desired changes and create new connections in your brain. This process is called neuroplasticity, and it's the brain's ability to adapt and rewire itself.

It's crucial for me to provide the support you need, and equally crucial for you to feel confident in my role as your coach. During our initial conversation, we'll pinpoint the areas you're looking to improve, bring into focus your goals and aspirations, and collaboratively set objectives. How do I book a free discovery call with you?
Schedule your virtual discovery call here on my site. Once you schedule your free consultation, you will be sent an intake form which needs to be filled out before our session.

How do coaching sessions take place?
All sessions are virtual so you can schedule them at the most convenient time and from the comfort of your home or wherever you prefer to be! However, I do highly recommend finding a quiet space where you are able to focus during our sessions so you can get the most out of them. All coaching sessions are through Zoom.

How does coaching differ from therapy?
Coaching focuses on assisting with identifying wellness goals, offers guidance with creating steps to reach your goals, and having accountability with follow-up sessions focused on accomplishing steps to reach these goals. Coaching focuses on learning specific tools and strategy behaviors to reach your goals, and is future focused.
Psychotherapy focuses on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to mental health symptoms and treating symptoms. Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health disorders or symptoms. -
How is a health coach different from a dietician, nutritionist or personal trainer?
Dietitians and nutritionists plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to help people lead healthy lives.
Personal trainers helps clients achieve their fitness goals by creating and implementing personalized training programs.
Health coaches do not prescribe any specific diet or fitness plans. They help clients take action to make sustainable lifestyle changes to improve their physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health. They help clients identify root causes to health concerns, set goals, and provide guidance and accountability to reach those goals. -
What does "holistic" health coaching mean?
My holistic approach to health goes beyond a surface level consideration of only diet and exercise. We dig deeper into the root causes for any imbalances to your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
