Kill The Snooze
👹”Sunday scaries” can quickly turn into the dreaded “Monday morning routine scaries” of..
Wake up.
Snooze alarm..(s).
Ok, now get up.
Wait. Doom scroll through phone on auto pilot to avoid actually getting up.
Ok, really time to get up now? Before I am late. Uh oh..my nervous system heard the word “late”. Hello fight or flight..
Anxiously rush to daily obligations as the day slowly drains my energy. 🥱
Can you relate? This was a daily habit for me until I discovered incorporating self-rituals into the start of my day to dedicate intentional time for just me before giving my energy away to the day✨
💚Here are ways I show up for my daily self-ritual:
🌞Wake up earlier, giving me atleast an hour for myself before work. Kill the snooze!
Fun fact: I realized hitting “snooze” was starting my day off by breaking a promise to myself and disrupting my body’s internal clock.
🍋Fuel and hydrate with hot lemon water and green protein smoothie
Fun fact: Hot lemon water in the morning helps kick-start digestion and fights indigestion, heartburn & bloating!
✍️Journal time with gratitude practice
Fun fact: A gratitude practice can foster joy, which triggers the release of feel good neurotransmitters, like dopamine and serotonin!
🪞Affirmations
Fun fact: Self-affirmation repetition may feel awkward at first but are believed to create new neural pathways in the brain!
🧘Meditation/Breathwork
Fun fact: Deep breathing stimulates the vagus nerve, which can create a natural sense of inner calm, suppressing inflammation.
👟Movement
Fun fact: It is recommended by the CDC to aim for 10,000 steps in a day, with fewer than 5,000 steps being a sign of a sedentary lifestyle (this can be easy to fall into with desk jobs)!
☀️Sunlight exposure
Fun fact: Exposure to full spectrum light in the morning
can help support us to have a healthy “cortisol rise” wake cycle!
Share what your ideal self ritual looks like! 🥰 If you are already making time for yourself in the morning, do you find it easy or challenging to do on a consistent basis? What ways do you keep yourself accountable?📥
